Possible Causes
Shorted temperature or high-limit sensor, Water intrusion into sensor connector, Damaged sensor cable insulation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before inspecting sensors or wiring.
- 1. Identify which sensor: Some Coleman packs use SE for a generic sensor error. Inspect both the water temperature and high-limit sensors.
- 2. Check connectors: Unplug each sensor from the control board, inspect for moisture or corrosion, dry thoroughly, and reconnect firmly.
- 3. Inspect cables: Look for crushed, cut, or melted insulation along the sensor leads. Replace any damaged sensor assemblies.
- 4. Replace suspect sensor: If SE persists, replace one sensor at a time (starting with the water temperature sensor) using Coleman-compatible parts.
- 5. Control board diagnosis: If new sensors do not clear SE, the board's sensor input circuits may be shorted and the control pack will need replacement.
