Possible Causes
Partially failed heater element, Weak circulation through heater, Misconfigured heating mode (EC/SL), Temperature sensor out of calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before opening the equipment bay.
- 1. Verify mode and set point: Confirm the spa is in Standard mode and the set temperature is higher than current water temperature.
- 2. Check heater indicator: On the Coleman topside, look for a heat icon or indicator. If it never appears, the control pack may not be calling for heat due to sensor misreadings.
- 3. Confirm circulation: Ensure strong flow from the heater return. Clean the filter and bleed air from the pump and heater unions.
- 4. Sensor comparison: Compare displayed temperature to a thermometer. If off by more than a few degrees, replace the temperature sensor.
- 5. Heater and board testing: A technician should test heater resistance and verify voltage at the heater terminals when heat is called. Replace the heater assembly or control board as indicated by test results.
