Possible Causes
Air lock in heater manifold, Low water level, Blocked MAAX filter, Failed circulation pump or stuck impeller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before loosening any unions or fittings.
- Verify water level: Fill the spa to the proper level indicated in the MAAX owner’s manual.
- Remove and clean filters: Take out all filters and rinse thoroughly. Try running the spa without filters to see if the dr code clears after a reset.
- Bleed air from heater and pump: With power off, slightly loosen the unions on the heater and circulation pump until water flows steadily, then retighten.
- Check circulation jet: Restore power and confirm a strong, steady stream from the small circulation return. Weak or no flow indicates a failing circ pump or blockage.
- Inspect for kinks or closed valves: Ensure all slice valves around the MAAX pump and heater are fully open and that hoses are not kinked.
- If dr persists: The circulation pump may need replacement, or there may be internal heater scaling. Contact a spa technician to test amp draw on the pump and inspect the heater tube.
