Possible Causes
Severe air lock, Completely failed circulation pump, Closed slice valves around heater, Heater tube not full of water due to plumbing issue
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Warning: Repeated dry-fire can permanently damage the heater. Do not keep resetting without fixing the cause.
- Shut off power: Turn off the GFCI breaker.
- Open all valves: Verify that all MAAX gate/slice valves around the pump and heater are fully pulled up and locked open.
- Manually prime pump: Remove the pump discharge union and fill the pump housing with spa water, then reconnect and tighten the union.
- Bleed heater: Loosen the heater unions until water flows, then retighten.
- Restart and observe: Restore power and watch for circulation flow and any gurgling sounds that indicate remaining air. If there is still no flow, the circulation pump motor or impeller is likely failed.
- Replace failed components: If the pump does not run or only hums, replace the MAAX circulation pump. Have a technician inspect the heater for dry-fire damage before reusing.
