Possible Causes
Dirty or clogged MAAX filter cartridges, Stuck or failed flow switch, Air lock in circulation line, Weak or failed circulation pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Always shut off power at the GFCI breaker before removing filters or opening the equipment bay.
- Check water level: Top off the spa so water is above all suction fittings and skimmer openings.
- Clean filters: Remove MAAX filters and rinse thoroughly. If they are more than 1–2 years old or the media is collapsed, replace them.
- Test without filters: With filters removed, restore power and see if the FLO code clears after a short priming cycle. If it does, the filters were the restriction.
- Bleed air: Turn power off again and loosen the union on the circulation pump and heater until water flows steadily, then retighten.
- Inspect flow switch: Locate the MAAX flow switch in the plumbing near the heater. Check for kinks in hoses and ensure the arrow on the body points in the direction of water flow. Do not jumper the switch; instead, gently tap the switch body to free a stuck paddle.
- If FLO persists: The flow switch or circulation pump may be defective. Replacement of the flow switch assembly or circ pump is typically required and should be done with power off and plumbing drained or plugged.
