Possible Causes
Low ambient temperature around spa, Water temperature near freezing, Faulty ambient or water sensor reading low, Control logic protecting plumbing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not shut off power to the spa in freezing conditions; freeze protection relies on powered pumps.
- Confirm environment: If outdoor temperatures are near or below freezing, ICE is normal. The spa is circulating water to prevent freeze damage.
- Check cover and insulation: Ensure the MAAX spa cover is in good condition and properly latched to retain heat.
- Verify water level: Maintain proper water level so pumps do not draw air while running in freeze mode.
- Sensor check: If ICE appears in warm weather, test the water temperature with a thermometer and compare to the display. Inspect the ambient or water sensor wiring for damage.
- Replace faulty sensor: If the sensor is reading too low, install a new MAAX-compatible sensor to prevent unnecessary freeze cycles.
