Possible Causes
Seized pump 1 motor, Failed start capacitor on pump 1, Debris jammed in MAAX wet end impeller, Loose wiring at pump 1 terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and lock out the breaker before touching the pump or wiring.
- Check for obstructions: Remove pump 1 from the MAAX spa equipment bay and inspect the wet end for debris or broken parts blocking the impeller.
- Spin shaft: With power off, try to rotate the pump shaft by hand using a screwdriver in the rear slot. If it is seized, the motor may need replacement.
- Inspect capacitor: Look for a bulging or leaking start capacitor on the pump motor. Replace with the same µF rating if defective.
- Verify wiring: Ensure all pump 1 wires are tight and correctly landed on the control board and motor terminals.
- Test under power: Restore power and briefly try to start pump 1. If it still hums or trips the breaker, replace the pump 1 motor assembly.
