Broken sensor wire, Unplugged sensor connector, Corroded pins on control board, Sensor removed from heater well
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before handling sensors or the control pack.
- Identify which sensor: Use the MAAX wiring diagram to determine whether the water temp, high-limit, or auxiliary sensor is reporting open.
- Check connector: Ensure the sensor plug is fully seated and not corroded.
- Inspect cable: Look for breaks, especially near tie-down points or cabinet penetrations.
- Test continuity: Use a multimeter to check for continuity through the sensor leads. An open reading indicates a broken sensor.
- Replace sensor: Install a new MAAX-compatible sensor of the same type and route the cable away from hot or sharp surfaces.
