Possible Causes
Failed start capacitor on MAAX pump, Seized pump shaft, Debris jammed in impeller, Low supply voltage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Warning: Do not let a humming motor run for more than a few seconds; it can overheat.
- Turn off power: Immediately shut off the breaker.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the pump wet end and inspect the impeller for debris.
- Test shaft movement: Try to rotate the motor shaft by hand. If it is stiff, the motor may be seized and require replacement.
- Inspect capacitor: Replace a bulging or leaking start capacitor with a MAAX-specified part.
- Retest: Reassemble and briefly test. If the pump still only hums, replace the pump motor assembly.
