Possible Causes
Worn pump motor bearings, Misaligned pump shaft, Debris in wet end contacting impeller, Cavitation from low water or air
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before inspecting the pump.
- Check water level and air: Ensure proper water level and bleed air from the pump to rule out cavitation.
- Isolate pump: Run each MAAX pump individually to identify which one is noisy.
- Inspect wet end: Remove the wet end and check for debris or broken parts rubbing the impeller.
- Assess bearings: Spin the motor shaft by hand. Roughness or grinding indicates bad bearings.
- Replace pump or motor: Replace the noisy pump motor or complete pump assembly. Bearing replacement is often not economical for spa pumps.
