Possible Causes
Water intrusion in MAAX control pack, Shorted heater element to ground, Shorted pump motor, Damaged ozone generator or light transformer
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Danger: Repeated breaker tripping indicates a potentially serious electrical fault. Use extreme caution.
- Visual inspection: With power off, open the equipment bay and look for obvious water leaks, corrosion, or burned components.
- Isolate components: Disconnect non-essential loads (ozone, lights, blower) from the control board one at a time and try powering up to see if the breaker still trips.
- Test heater to ground: With all power off and wires removed from the heater, measure resistance from each heater terminal to the heater tube. Any continuity indicates a ground fault; replace the heater.
- Check pumps: Disconnect pump motors and test again. If the breaker stops tripping, test each pump individually to find the faulty one.
- Do not bypass GFCI: Never replace a GFCI with a standard breaker to "solve" nuisance trips. Correct the underlying fault.
