Possible Causes
High combined chlorine or bromamines, Overdosing sanitizer, Low pH, Inadequate ventilation under cover
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Avoid prolonged exposure to strong chemical fumes. Ventilate the area.
- Test water: Use a reliable test kit to check free chlorine/bromine, combined chlorine, pH, and alkalinity.
- Shock treatment: If combined chlorine is high, perform a non-chlorine or chlorine shock per MAAX water care guidelines.
- Adjust pH: Bring pH into the 7.2–7.8 range using pH up or down products.
- Vent cover: Leave the cover partially open for 15–30 minutes after shocking to allow gases to escape.
- Review dosing: Follow MAAX-recommended sanitizer levels and avoid over-chlorinating.
