Possible Causes
Worn pump motor bearings, Debris jammed in pump impeller, Failed start capacitor on pump motor, Loose or burned pump wiring at PDC Spas control pack
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before touching the pump or wiring.
- 1. Inspect pump area: Check for leaks around the pump and for any obvious damage to the housing or wiring.
- 2. Check wiring connections: Verify that the pump's power leads are securely attached at the control pack and at the motor junction box (if present).
- 3. Try to free the impeller: With power OFF, remove the pump motor end cover (if accessible) and attempt to rotate the shaft by hand with a screwdriver or wrench. If it is seized, the pump likely needs replacement.
- 4. Listen for symptoms: If the pump only hums when energized, the start capacitor may be bad. Replacing the capacitor can sometimes restore operation, but many owners opt to replace the entire PDC Spas pump assembly.
Because pumps are water-exposed and electrically powered, replacement is best handled by a spa technician unless you are experienced with such work.
