Possible Causes
Failed heater relay on PDC Spas control board, Open heater element in heater tube, Flow or pressure switch not closing, Incorrect mode (Economy/Sleep) or low set temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before opening the control pack or testing the heater.
- 1. Confirm settings: Verify the spa is in Standard mode and the set temperature is above current water temperature.
- 2. Check for flow errors: Ensure no FLO, FLC, or similar codes are present. Resolve any flow issues first.
- 3. Observe heater indicator: When the spa calls for heat, the heater icon or indicator light should come on. If it does not, the control board may not be energizing the heater.
- 4. Test heater element: With power OFF and wires disconnected from the heater terminals, measure resistance across the heater element with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed heater that must be replaced with a PDC Spas-compatible heater assembly.
- 5. Inspect heater wiring and relay: Look for burned wires or relay contacts on the control board. Any signs of overheating warrant professional board replacement.
Because heater circuits carry high current, heater and board replacement should generally be done by a qualified spa technician.
