Possible Causes
Dirty or clogged Vita Spa filter cartridges, Air lock in circulation system, Failed or stuck flow switch, Weak or failed circulation pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the GFCI before loosening any unions or removing filters.
- Step 1 – Water level: Ensure water level is above all skimmer openings and at least halfway up the filter housing. Low water can cause FLO.
- Step 2 – Clean filters: Remove all filters and rinse thoroughly. Try running the spa with filters removed. If FLO clears, replace filters with new Vita Spa-compatible cartridges.
- Step 3 – Bleed air from lines: Turn off power. Loosen the union on the circulation pump and heater just enough to let trapped air escape until water drips steadily, then retighten. Restore power and check for FLO.
- Step 4 – Inspect flow switch: Locate the flow switch in the plumbing near the heater. Check that the arrow on the body points in the direction of flow. Inspect wiring for damage or loose connectors at the control pack.
- Step 5 – Test flow switch: With power off, disconnect the flow switch from the control board and test continuity with a multimeter while water is flowing (pump on). If it does not close when there is flow, replace the flow switch.
- Step 6 – Check circulation pump: If the flow switch is good but there is little or no water movement, the circulation pump may be weak or seized. Replace the Vita Spa circulation pump assembly if it hums but does not move water.
