Possible Causes

High combined chlorine due to inadequate shocking, Low pH or high pH, Overuse of certain sanitizers, Poor ventilation over spa

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Avoid soaking until water chemistry is corrected.

  • Step 1 – Test water: Use a reliable test kit to check free chlorine/bromine, combined chlorine, pH, and alkalinity.
  • Step 2 – Shock treatment: Add a non-chlorine shock or chlorine shock per label to break down chloramines.
  • Step 3 – Adjust pH/alkalinity: Bring pH into the 7.2–7.8 range and alkalinity into the recommended range for Vita Spa.
  • Step 4 – Ventilate: Open the cover periodically to allow off-gassing of volatile compounds.
