Possible Causes
Loose communication cable between user interface and main PCB, Damaged ribbon cable, Oxidized connectors, Faulty display PCB or main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the Argo unit before accessing the control panel or internal boards.
Steps:
- Access control panel: Remove the top or front bezel to expose the display/control PCB. Take care not to damage the plastic clips.
- Check ribbon cable: Locate the multi-wire or flat ribbon cable connecting the display board to the main PCB. Ensure both ends are fully seated and locked.
- Inspect for damage: Look for kinks, cuts, or burn marks on the cable. If any conductor appears broken, replace the Argo display-to-main PCB harness.
- Clean connectors: If there is visible oxidation, gently clean the connector contacts with electronic contact cleaner and allow to dry completely.
- Board substitution (if available): If you have access to a known-good display board or main PCB from the same model, swap one at a time to identify the faulty board.
- Replace defective board: Install a new Argo display PCB or Argo main control PCB as indicated by testing. Ensure all stand-offs and insulators are in place.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the panel, restore power, and verify that E6 no longer appears and all buttons respond correctly.
