Possible Causes
Defective evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor not properly attached to coil, Wiring damage between sensor and PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the evaporator area.
Steps:
- Access evaporator: Remove front cover and filter to expose the evaporator coil.
- Check sensor placement: Ensure the defrost/evaporator sensor is firmly clipped to the coil where specified by Argo. If it has fallen away, reattach it securely.
- Inspect wiring: Look for pinched or broken wires along the path to the main PCB. Repair or replace the harness if damaged.
- Measure resistance: Compare the defrost sensor resistance to the ambient sensor at the same temperature. Large discrepancies indicate a faulty sensor.
- Replace sensor: Install a new Argo defrost NTC sensor and secure it to the coil.
- Reassemble and test: Restore power and verify that F2 is cleared and the unit no longer short-cycles.
