Possible Causes
Open or shorted ambient NTC sensor, Damaged sensor harness, Corroded connector on main PCB, Failed main control board sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Cecotec dehumidifier before removing any covers. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to mains power.
Steps to check and fix:
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try to start it. Sometimes E1 is a temporary sensor read error.
- Inspect ambient sensor: Locate the room temperature NTC sensor (usually clipped near the air intake grille or on the evaporator inlet, with two thin wires going to the main board). Check for broken wires, crushed insulation, or signs of moisture damage.
- Check connections: Disconnect and reconnect the sensor plug on the main PCB. Look for bent pins, corrosion, or loose fit. Clean lightly with contact cleaner if available and fully reseat the connector.
- Measure resistance: With a multimeter set to ohms, measure the NTC sensor resistance at room temperature (typically 5–20 kΩ depending on model). If it reads open (OL) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is defective and must be replaced.
- Replace sensor if faulty: Order a compatible Cecotec ambient NTC sensor for your exact model. Clip the new sensor in the same position, route the cable away from the fan and sharp edges, and connect it to the same PCB socket.
- If E1 persists: If a known-good sensor still triggers E1, the sensor input circuit on the main control board is likely damaged. In that case, replacement of the main PCB is recommended and should be done by a qualified technician.
