Possible Causes

Defective evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator fins, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty main PCB sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Disconnect the Cecotec dehumidifier from power before opening the cabinet. Avoid touching the refrigerant tubing with tools that could puncture it.

Diagnostic and repair steps:

  • Access the evaporator: Remove the rear or side cover (depending on model) to expose the evaporator coil (cold aluminum fins behind the air filter).
  • Locate the NTC sensor: Look for a small probe or bead sensor clipped or taped to the evaporator fins with two wires leading to the main board.
  • Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the fins. If it has fallen off or is hanging loose, reattach it using the original clip or aluminum tape so it makes good thermal contact.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the PCB. Look for cuts, pinches, or melted insulation. Repair minor insulation damage with heat-shrink or electrical tape; replace the harness if conductors are broken.
  • Test the sensor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the PCB and measure resistance. Compare to Cecotec service data if available; if it reads open or shorted, replace the sensor.
  • Replace if needed: Install a compatible Cecotec evaporator NTC sensor, route the cable securely, and reconnect to the board.
  • Board check: If a new sensor does not clear E2, the main control board may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
