Possible Causes
Failed digital humidity sensor module, Sensor blocked by dust or moisture, Loose or corroded sensor connector, Faulty main PCB communication with sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the Cecotec unit before removing the front panel or control panel cover.
Steps:
- Locate humidity sensor: On many Cecotec dehumidifiers, the RH sensor is mounted behind the front grille or integrated into the control panel area, often in a small plastic housing with vents.
- Clean the sensor area: Remove the air filter and gently vacuum dust from the intake area. Use a soft brush to remove lint and debris that may block airflow to the sensor.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the control panel cover if necessary and locate the humidity sensor connector on the PCB. Check for loose plugs, corrosion, or broken wires. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Dry out moisture: If the unit has been used in very high humidity or has been stored damp, allow it to dry for several hours in a warm, dry room before retesting. Condensation on the sensor can cause E3.
- Replace sensor module: If E3 persists, replace the humidity sensor with a Cecotec-compatible RH sensor module. Mount it in the same location and orientation to ensure accurate readings.
- Control board check: If a new sensor does not resolve E3, the main PCB may not be reading the sensor correctly and may require replacement by a technician.
