Possible Causes
Stuck or misaligned float in water tank, Faulty tank full micro-switch, Broken float magnet or reed switch, Damaged wiring between float switch and PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the water tank or accessing internal switches.
Steps:
- 1. Check tank position: Remove and reinsert the water tank, ensuring it is fully seated. Some Ebac models require the tank to push a lever that activates a micro-switch.
- 2. Inspect float: Open the tank and verify that the float moves freely up and down. Clean any slime, scale, or debris that may cause sticking. Rinse thoroughly.
- 3. Test the tank switch: Locate the tank full switch (micro-switch or reed switch) inside the cabinet where the tank slides in. Manually operate the lever or move the float and listen for a click. With a multimeter, check for continuity change when the switch is actuated.
- 4. Check magnet/reed assembly: If your model uses a magnetic float and reed switch, ensure the magnet is still attached to the float and that the reed switch is not cracked.
- 5. Replace faulty components: Replace a defective float, micro-switch, or reed switch with the correct Ebac part. Ensure the new switch is aligned so that the tank and float operate it reliably.
- 6. Verify wiring: Inspect the harness from the tank switch to the main PCB for damage or loose connectors and repair as needed.
Note: After repair, test by filling the tank with water and confirming that the unit shuts off and clears the E5 code when the tank is emptied and reinstalled.
