E6 error, unit powers but no fan or compressor operation
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the dehumidifier. Static-sensitive components are present; ground yourself before touching PCBs.
Steps:
- 1. Power cycle: Disconnect power for 10 minutes, then reconnect. If E6 reappears immediately, continue.
- 2. Inspect display-to-main PCB cable: Remove the control panel cover and locate the ribbon or harness connecting the display board to the main PCB. Reseat both ends and check for bent pins or corrosion.
- 3. Look for board damage: Examine the main PCB for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or signs of moisture ingress. If present, the board will likely need replacement.
- 4. Disconnect peripherals: With power off, disconnect non-essential loads (fan, compressor relay, sensors) one at a time and reapply power to see if E6 clears, which may indicate a shorted peripheral pulling down the control circuit.
- 5. Replace PCB: If wiring and peripherals test good and E6 persists, replace the main control PCB with the correct Ebac board for your model. Transfer any jumpers or configuration links as per service documentation.
Warning: Do not attempt to reprogram firmware without official Ebac tools and files; incorrect firmware can permanently damage the board.
