Possible Causes

Failed fan motor, Obstructed fan wheel, Loose fan connector at PCB, Faulty fan speed control circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the dehumidifier. The fan blades can be sharp; wear gloves.

Steps:

  • 1. Check for obstructions: Remove the front grille and visually inspect the fan wheel (squirrel cage or axial fan). Remove any debris, cable ties, or insulation blocking rotation.
  • 2. Spin test: Gently spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If it is stiff or seized, the motor bearings may have failed.
  • 3. Inspect wiring: Trace the fan motor wires back to the main PCB. Ensure the connector is fully seated and that no wires are cut or pinched.
  • 4. Voltage test: With the unit reassembled enough to operate and using proper electrical safety, check for rated voltage at the fan motor terminals when the unit calls for fan operation. If voltage is present but the fan does not run, the motor is faulty.
  • 5. Replace fan motor: Remove the mounting screws or clips, slide the fan wheel off the shaft (noting orientation), and install the new Ebac fan motor. Refit the fan wheel and ensure it is balanced and not rubbing on the housing.
  • 6. PCB check: If no voltage is present at the fan when commanded on, the fan driver circuit on the main PCB may be defective and require board replacement.

Tip: After replacement, run the unit and listen for rubbing or vibration, adjusting the fan wheel position as needed.
