Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
Steps:
- 1. Check ambient conditions: Verify the room temperature is within the operating range specified by Ebac (typically above 3–5°C for many models). If the space is too cold, relocate the unit or provide supplemental heat.
- 2. Inspect evaporator sensor: Access the evaporator coil and confirm the sensor is firmly attached to the coil surface. Reattach with the original clip or aluminum tape if loose.
- 3. Examine for heavy frost: If the coil is heavily iced, unplug the unit and allow it to defrost completely. Clean the air filter and ensure airflow is not restricted.
- 4. Sensor test: Measure the evaporator sensor resistance at known temperatures and compare to Ebac specifications. Replace the sensor if readings are out of range.
- 5. Control board evaluation: If the sensor is good and ambient conditions are correct, the defrost algorithm on the main PCB may be malfunctioning. Replacement of the control board may be necessary.
Note: Operating the dehumidifier in very cold environments can cause frequent defrost cycles and E9 errors; consider a low-temperature Ebac model for such applications.
