Possible Causes
Evaporator sensor misreading temperature, Poor airflow across evaporator, Low ambient temperature, Defective defrost control on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before cleaning or accessing internal components.
Steps:
- 1. Clean filter and coils: Remove and wash the air filter. Vacuum dust from the evaporator and condenser coils to restore airflow.
- 2. Check ambient temperature: Ensure the room is within the specified operating range. Very cold rooms will cause frequent defrost cycles.
- 3. Inspect evaporator sensor: Confirm the sensor is firmly attached to the coil and not hanging loose. Replace if damaged.
- 4. Observe operation: After cleaning and sensor check, run the unit and monitor defrost frequency. If P1 persists, the defrost algorithm or PCB may be faulty.
- 5. PCB replacement: Replace the main control PCB if all mechanical and sensor causes are eliminated.
