Fan runs but no water is collected in the tank or drain hose

Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning or inspection.

Steps:

• 1. Check humidity and temperature: Ensure the room humidity is actually high (above 50%) and temperature is above the minimum operating range. In very cool or dry conditions, little water will be collected.
• 2. Inspect evaporator coil: Remove the cover and inspect the cold coil. Clean dust and lint with a soft brush and vacuum. Ensure air filter is clean.
• 3. Observe coil during operation: Reassemble enough to run safely. After 15–20 minutes, the evaporator should be uniformly cool and damp. If only a small section frosts or the coil remains warm, there may be a refrigerant or flow issue.
• 4. Sensor check: Verify the evaporator sensor is correctly attached and not reading incorrectly, which can cause premature defrost or shutdown.
• 5. Professional service: If airflow and sensors are correct but performance is poor, a refrigeration technician should check for leaks, restrictions, and recharge the system if appropriate.
