Possible Causes
Faulty compressor relay on PCB, Failed compressor start capacitor (if fitted), Open compressor winding, Low ambient temperature lockout
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing internal components. Compressor circuits carry mains voltage.
Steps:
- 1. Check settings: Ensure the humidity setpoint is below the room humidity and that the unit is not in fan-only mode.
- 2. Ambient temperature: Confirm the room is within the operating temperature range; some Ebac models inhibit compressor operation at low temperatures.
- 3. Listen for relay click: When the unit calls for dehumidification, listen for a click from the compressor relay on the PCB. No click may indicate a control issue.
- 4. Inspect relay and capacitor: Access the main PCB and compressor compartment. Check the compressor relay for burn marks and test the start capacitor (if present) with a capacitance meter. Replace any faulty components.
- 5. Test compressor windings: With power off and wires removed, measure resistance between compressor terminals. Open or shorted windings indicate a failed compressor requiring professional replacement.
