Ebac
Under-Capacity or Control Calibration Issue
Unit runs but room humidity does not decrease to setpoint
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Room size exceeds unit capacity, Excessive moisture load (e.g., water ingress), Humidity sensor out of calibration, Air leaks around doors/windows
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks.
Steps:
- 1. Verify capacity: Compare the Ebac model's rated extraction (litres/day) to the room size and moisture load. A small unit may not handle a large, damp basement.
- 2. Reduce moisture sources: Fix leaks, improve drainage, and cover open water sources. Use exhaust fans in kitchens and bathrooms.
- 3. Seal the space: Close windows and doors while the dehumidifier is running. Seal obvious air leaks.
- 4. Check sensor accuracy: Compare the unit's humidity reading with a separate hygrometer. If the unit reads significantly lower than actual, the humidity sensor may need replacement.
- 5. Relocate unit: Place the dehumidifier centrally with good airflow, away from corners and obstructions.
