Possible Causes
Water bucket full, Misaligned bucket not engaging switch, Stuck bucket float, Faulty bucket full switch, Clogged drain hose causing backup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before removing the bucket.
Steps:
- Empty and clean bucket: Remove the bucket, empty it, and wash with warm soapy water to remove slime or mold that can jam the float.
- Check float movement: Move the float up and down; it should move freely and return to the down position when empty.
- Inspect bucket switch: Locate the bucket full switch in the cabinet. Ensure the actuator lever is not broken and moves when the bucket is inserted.
- Verify bucket seating: Reinstall the bucket firmly until it is flush with the cabinet. Some models require a firm push to engage the switch.
- Drain hose users: If using continuous drain, disconnect and flush the hose. Ensure it slopes downward with no kinks.
- Test: Plug in and run. If FL persists with an empty, properly seated bucket, the bucket switch or float assembly may need replacement.
