Possible Causes
Water bucket full, Misaligned bucket not engaging float switch, Faulty bucket float switch, Blocked continuous drain hose causing backup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing the bucket.
Steps:
- Empty the bucket: Carefully remove the water bucket and empty it completely. Check for cracks or warping.
- Inspect float mechanism: Inside the bucket, locate the float assembly (plastic float that rises with water level). Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck by slime or debris. Clean with warm soapy water and rinse.
- Check bucket seating: Reinstall the bucket firmly, making sure it is fully inserted and level. Many Frigidaire models have a bucket switch that must be depressed by the bucket edge.
- Continuous drain users: If using a hose, disconnect it and check for kinks, clogs, or an uphill run that prevents drainage. Ensure the hose runs downhill to a floor drain.
- Test the bucket switch: With the unit unplugged, locate the bucket full switch near the bucket opening. Manually press the switch lever and listen/feel for a click. If it feels loose or does not click, it may be faulty.
- Run test: Plug in and run the unit. If P2 remains with an empty, properly seated bucket, the bucket switch or float assembly likely needs replacement.
