Possible Causes

Failed relative humidity sensor module, Humidity sensor cable damaged or unplugged, Corroded connector at control PCB, Main PCB analog-to-digital circuit failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before servicing. Avoid touching the compressor terminals.

Steps:

  • Soft reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then power back on. If E3 persists, continue.
  • Locate humidity sensor: The humidity sensor is often mounted behind the front grille near the air inlet or integrated into the control panel area with a small vented housing.
  • Visual inspection: Check for dust buildup, moisture, or corrosion on the sensor. Gently clean with dry compressed air; do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Check wiring: Follow the sensor harness to the main PCB. Ensure the connector is fully seated and wires are not broken or pinched.
  • Replace sensor: If E3 remains and wiring is intact, replace the humidity sensor module with a Gree-compatible part. Mount it in the same location and orientation to ensure accurate readings.
  • Control board check: If a new sensor does not resolve E3, the main control board may be faulty and should be tested or replaced by a technician.
