Possible Causes
Evaporator coil temperature below safe threshold, Room temperature too low, Defrost sensor misreading, Restricted airflow causing coil icing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit if there is visible ice buildup.
Steps:
- Check room temperature: Ensure the room is within the operating range (typically above 5°C/41°F). Move the unit to a warmer area if needed.
- Inspect for ice: Remove the front cover and look at the evaporator coil. If iced over, allow it to thaw completely before restarting.
- Clean filter and coil: Wash the air filter and gently clean dust from the evaporator coil to improve airflow.
- Sensor check: Verify the defrost/coil sensor is firmly attached and wiring is intact. Replace the defrost sensor if readings are abnormal.
- Operation: After thawing and cleaning, plug in and allow the unit to run. P2 may clear automatically once coil temperature normalizes.
