Possible Causes
Dirty or scaled water level probes, Stuck float switch, Loose water level sensor wiring, Faulty water level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before cleaning internal sensors.
Clean level detection components:
- Remove the ice basket and drain the reservoir.
- Identify the water level detection system: either metal probes in the reservoir wall or a plastic float assembly.
- Soak a cloth in white vinegar and thoroughly clean the probes or float to remove mineral scale and slime. Move the float up and down to ensure free motion.
- Rinse the reservoir with clean water.
Check wiring:
- Access the underside or side panel to trace the sensor wires to the control board.
- Ensure connectors are tight and wires are not damaged.
Test:
- Refill to the MAX line, reassemble, plug in, and restart. If the “Add Water” light remains on, the water level sensor assembly may need replacement.
