Possible Causes

Blocked ice full sensor, Misaligned infrared emitter/receiver, Failed ice full sensor board, Loose sensor wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before inspecting sensors.

Clear and clean the ice full sensor:

  • Remove the ice basket and any ice buildup around the front of the evaporator and the ice chute area.
  • Locate the ice full sensor (often an infrared emitter/receiver pair or a small lever sensor near the top front of the ice bin area).
  • Wipe the sensor windows with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or glass cleaner. Dry completely.
  • Ensure no plastic film or packing material remains over the sensor windows.

Check alignment and wiring:

  • Verify the emitter and receiver are directly facing each other and not bent out of position.
  • With the unit unplugged, remove the side or top cover to access the sensor harness. Confirm the connector is firmly seated on the control board and that no wires are cut or pinched.

Test operation:

  • Reassemble, plug in, and power on. Empty the basket and start a cycle. If the unit immediately shows E2, the sensor module is likely defective and should be replaced.
