Possible Causes

Misadjusted ice thickness probe, Scale buildup on thickness sensor, Faulty thickness sensor wiring, Defective thickness sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water supply before working inside the ice-making compartment.

  • Locate thickness sensor: On many Amica ice makers, a metal or plastic probe or sensor bar is positioned near the evaporator plate to detect ice thickness.
  • Clean sensor: Mineral scale can insulate the sensor and cause incorrect readings. Use a manufacturer-approved descaler or a mild vinegar solution on a cloth to gently clean the probe. Rinse with clean water and dry.
  • Check adjustment: Some sensors are adjustable. Refer to the user or service manual for the correct gap between the sensor and the evaporator. Adjust the screw or bracket to the specified distance.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor cable back to the control board. Ensure connectors are tight and the cable is not pinched.
  • Test operation: Restore power and run a cycle. If ice remains too thick or thin and E11 returns, replace the ice thickness sensor assembly.
