Possible Causes
Blocked circulation pump impeller, Burned-out circulation pump motor, Airlock in circulation system, Loose pump wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and close the water supply. Expect some water spillage when removing the pump.
- Access circulation pump: Remove the front or bottom panel to reach the water sump and circulation pump assembly.
- Check for obstructions: Disconnect the pump from the hoses and inspect the impeller area for scale, plastic fragments, or other debris. Clean thoroughly.
- Bleed air: Refill the sump with water to the correct level before starting a cycle to avoid airlocks.
- Test pump motor: Measure the resistance of the pump motor with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Also check that the pump receives the correct voltage during operation.
- Replace pump: If the motor is defective or noisy even after cleaning, install a new Amica circulation pump assembly and ensure all hose clamps are tight to prevent leaks.
