Possible Causes
Low refrigerant charge, Partially blocked capillary tube, Weak compressor, Dirty condenser coil or blocked condenser fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Work on cleaning and airflow only; sealed system repairs (refrigerant, compressor, capillary) must be done by a certified refrigeration technician.
- Check ambient conditions: Ensure the ice maker is installed in a room within the specified temperature range (usually 10–38°C). Very high ambient temperatures reduce ice production and can trigger E5.
- Clean condenser: Remove the rear or side service panel to access the condenser coil. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the fins. Do not bend the fins.
- Inspect condenser fan: Confirm the condenser fan spins freely by hand and runs when the compressor is on. Replace the fan motor if it is noisy, seized, or does not start.
- Check for airflow obstructions: Make sure nothing blocks the air intake or exhaust grilles. Maintain recommended clearance around the unit.
- Call a technician for sealed system issues: If cleaning and airflow checks do not resolve E5 and ice remains thin or absent, the unit may have a refrigerant or compressor problem that requires professional service.
