Possible Causes
Failed compressor, Severe refrigerant leak, Blocked capillary tube, Non-operational condenser fan causing high pressure shutdown
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself.
- Listen for compressor: Plug in and start a cycle. If the compressor does not run (no humming or vibration), check the start relay and overload as described under E4.
- Check condenser fan and coil: Ensure the fan runs and the condenser coil is clean. Overheating can cause the compressor to shut down.
- Feel lines carefully: After a few minutes of operation, carefully touch the refrigerant lines near the compressor. If both lines remain at room temperature, the compressor may not be pumping or the system may be empty of refrigerant.
- Call a certified technician: Diagnosing and repairing sealed system issues (compressor, refrigerant, capillary) requires specialized tools and certification. Arrange professional service.
