Possible Causes

Failed compressor start relay, Open thermal overload protector, Locked compressor, Loose wiring to compressor terminals

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker. The compressor area can be hot; allow it to cool before touching.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure there is at least 10–15 cm clearance around the sides and back of the Baridi ice maker. Overheating can trigger protection and E4.
  • Inspect wiring at compressor: Remove the rear panel to access the compressor. Verify that the wiring harness and start relay are firmly attached to the compressor terminals.
  • Listen for compressor attempts: Plug the unit in and listen (without touching internal parts). If you hear a click and then a hum followed by another click, the start relay or compressor may be failing.
  • Test start relay and overload (advanced): With power disconnected, remove the start relay/overload combo from the compressor. Check for continuity across the overload and appropriate resistance across relay terminals. Replace the start relay/overload assembly if open or burnt.
  • Professional service for sealed system: If the compressor is locked (draws high current and trips repeatedly) or does not run even with a new relay, the compressor itself is likely faulty. This requires a refrigeration technician and may not be economical to repair.
