Possible Causes
Closed or restricted water supply to ice maker, Defective water inlet valve coil, Clogged inlet screen on water valve, Kinked or frozen water supply line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and close the water supply valve before disconnecting any hoses.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Confirm water supply: Ensure the household shutoff valve feeding the ice maker is fully open. Check that other fixtures on the same line have normal pressure.
- 2. Inspect water line: Look for kinks, sharp bends, or crushed sections in the plastic or copper line. Straighten or replace as needed.
- 3. Check for freezing: If the unit is installed in a cold area, inspect the inlet line and internal tubing for ice blockage. Thaw gently with warm towels; do not use open flame.
- 4. Clean inlet screen: Remove the water line from the inlet valve at the back of the unit. Inside the valve port is a small mesh screen; remove debris with a soft brush and rinse.
- 5. Test inlet valve coil: With the valve disconnected and unit unplugged, measure coil resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the specification in the service manual. Replace the valve if the coil is open or shorted.
- 6. Replace water inlet valve: If water supply is good and the valve does not open when commanded (technician test mode), install a new Blomberg water inlet valve assembly.
