Possible Causes

Open or shorted evaporator NTC sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Corroded connector at main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components. Sharp metal edges may be present around the evaporator compartment.

Steps:

  • 1. Access the evaporator area: Remove the internal rear panel or ice compartment cover to expose the evaporator coil and sensor.
  • 2. Inspect sensor and wiring: Locate the small probe (NTC) clipped to or near the evaporator. Check for broken insulation, pulled wires, or loose clips.
  • 3. Test sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor from the harness and measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature. Compare to the Blomberg service chart (typically in the tens of kΩ). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
  • 4. Check harness to PCB: Trace the sensor wires back to the main control board. Reseat the connector and inspect for corrosion or moisture.
  • 5. Replace sensor: If readings are out of range, install a new evaporator NTC sensor, routing the wires as originally installed and securing the probe firmly to the evaporator.

If E03 persists after sensor replacement, the main control PCB may also be faulty and should be evaluated by a technician.
