Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice buildup blocking fan blades, Loose fan wiring connector, Faulty fan control output on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing interior panels.
Steps:
- 1. Access internal fan: Remove the inner rear or side panel of the ice compartment to expose the evaporator fan.
- 2. Check for ice obstruction: Look for ice buildup around the fan shroud. Defrost the area using warm air (hair dryer on low, at a safe distance) and towels to catch meltwater.
- 3. Spin test: Gently spin the fan blades by hand. If stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be worn.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Ensure the fan connector is secure and wires are not damaged.
- 5. Replace fan motor: If the fan does not run when powered and voltage is present, install a new Blomberg evaporator fan motor.
