Possible Causes
Defective hot gas valve (for hot gas harvest systems), Faulty harvest motor or cam switch, Excessive scale on evaporator, Incorrect evaporator temperature sensing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Do not attempt to open sealed refrigeration components.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect evaporator surface: Look for heavy scale or roughness that can cause ice to stick. Descale with an approved cleaner and rinse thoroughly.
- 2. Check harvest mechanism: For models with a mechanical harvest arm or motor, inspect the cam, gears, and switches for wear or binding. Lubricate only with food-safe lubricant if specified by Blomberg.
- 3. Test hot gas valve (technician): Verify that the hot gas solenoid is energized during harvest and that coil resistance is within spec. Replace the valve coil if defective.
- 4. Verify sensor operation: Ensure the evaporator temperature sensor is correctly clipped and reading accurately; replace if faulty.
