Possible Causes

No water in reservoir, Blocked water inlet filter, Defective water level sensor, Kinked or pinched water hose (plumbed-in models)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Bomann ice maker before inspecting internal parts. Never work on the unit while it is connected to mains power.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Check water level: Remove the water tank or open the lid and verify the reservoir is filled to the MAX mark with clean, potable water. Reinsert the tank fully so the valve opens correctly.
  • Inspect inlet filter and hose (if plumbed-in): Turn off the water supply. Disconnect the inlet hose at the rear of the unit. Rinse any small mesh filter in the hose connection under running water. Make sure the hose is not kinked or crushed behind the appliance, then reconnect and turn water back on.
  • Clean the water level sensor area: On many Bomann countertop ice makers, the water level is detected by a float or sensor near the bottom of the reservoir. Remove scale or slime with a soft cloth and a mild descaler suitable for ice makers. Do not use sharp tools.
  • Reset the unit: Refill the reservoir, plug the unit back in, and press the power button. If available, hold the power or reset button for 5–10 seconds to clear the error. Observe whether the E1 code returns.

When to call a technician: If E1 reappears immediately and water level and hoses are correct, the internal water level sensor or control board may be defective and should be tested and replaced by a qualified technician.
