Possible Causes

Blocked ice full sensor window, Misaligned ice level infrared sensor, Defective ice full sensor board, Loose wiring to sensor on control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the Bomann ice maker from the mains before cleaning or opening any covers.

Steps to resolve:

  • Empty the ice basket: Remove all ice from the storage basket. An overfilled basket can keep the ice full sensor triggered.
  • Clean the sensor area: Locate the ice full sensor near the top of the ice basket area (often a small window or pair of lenses on the side walls). Wipe both sides gently with a soft, damp cloth to remove frost, dust, or mineral deposits. Dry thoroughly.
  • Check for obstructions: Make sure the ice shovel/ice pusher arm can move freely and is not jammed by ice pieces. Remove any stuck ice and restart the unit.
  • Power cycle: Plug the unit back in, wait 1–2 minutes, then power it on. Start a new ice cycle and see if E2 clears.

When to seek service: If the E2 code persists with a clear, empty basket and clean sensors, the infrared ice full sensor or its wiring may be defective and require replacement.
