Possible Causes

Blocked condenser vents, Failed condenser fan (if equipped), Overheated compressor, Faulty overload protector or PTC starter

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before moving or cleaning it. Allow hot components to cool.

Ventilation and cleaning:

  • Check placement: Ensure at least 10–15 cm of clearance around the sides and back of the unit. Do not place it in a closed cabinet or against a wall.
  • Clean condenser grilles: Use a soft brush or vacuum to remove dust from the rear and side ventilation openings. Blocked airflow can cause overheating and trigger E5.
  • Inspect condenser fan (if present): Through the rear grille, verify that the fan spins freely by gently nudging the blades with a plastic stick (power off). If the fan is seized or noisy, it should be replaced.
  • Cool-down reset: Leave the unit unplugged for 30–60 minutes to allow the compressor and overload protector to cool. Then reconnect and test.

When to call service: If E5 returns quickly, the compressor, overload protector, or PTC starter may be failing. These are sealed-system related components and should be serviced only by a refrigeration technician.
