Possible Causes
Ice basket not seated correctly, Faulty basket presence switch, Broken basket guide or tab, Loose wiring to basket sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before manipulating internal plastic parts to avoid accidental motor movement.
Steps:
- Re-seat the ice basket: Remove the basket completely and check for broken tabs or deformed edges. Reinsert it fully so it sits flat and engages any rear or side guides.
- Check for obstructions: Make sure no ice cubes or foreign objects are trapped under or behind the basket, preventing it from sitting correctly.
- Inspect basket switch: Some Bomann models use a small microswitch or magnetic sensor to detect the basket. Look for a small lever or magnet area where the basket meets the housing. Clean it gently and ensure it is not bent.
- Restart: Plug the unit back in and start a cycle. If E6 persists with the basket correctly installed, the switch or sensor may be defective.
Service note: Replacing the basket presence switch or reed sensor requires opening the cabinet and should be done by a technician.
