Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Bomann ice maker and remove the water reservoir before accessing the pump area.
Steps:
- Check water level: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the correct level. Very low water can cause the pump to suck air and trigger an error.
- Clean pump inlet: At the bottom of the reservoir or inside the machine, locate the small pump inlet or filter screen. Remove any debris, scale, or slime with a soft brush and rinse thoroughly.
- Bleed air from pump: Refill the reservoir, then tilt the machine slightly forward and backward (with power off) to help trapped air escape from the pump housing.
- Restart: Plug in and start a cycle. Listen for the pump running and water flowing over the evaporator. If the pump is silent and E8 returns, the pump may be defective.
Service note: Replacing the water circulation pump involves opening the cabinet and disconnecting hoses; this should be done by a qualified technician to avoid leaks.
