Possible Causes
Clogged drain hose or outlet, Failed drain pump motor, Kinked or improperly routed drain line, Blocked internal drain channel under evaporator
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before working on the drain system. Water may spill; have towels ready.
- Inspect drain hose: Check the external drain hose for kinks, sharp bends, or clogs. Detach the hose and flush it with water to clear obstructions.
- Clean internal drain: Remove the ice bin and access the drain opening under the evaporator or water trough. Clear any ice, scale, or debris using a soft brush and warm water.
- Test drain pump: If your Brandt model uses a pump, listen for pump operation during drain. If silent, access the pump from the rear or bottom, check for obstructions in the impeller, and test for continuity. Replace the drain pump if the motor is open or seized.
- Verify hose routing: Ensure the drain hose slopes continuously downward to the drain point and is not submerged in standing water, which can cause backflow.
- Run a rinse cycle: After reassembly, run a cleaning or test cycle to confirm proper draining and that E13 is cleared.
